Some journeys take you far beyond room service and all inclusive. Some journeys eliminate borders, initiate global solidarity and forge spiritual connections. (Gate) Global Awareness Through Experience, a travel organization established to build global solidarity, offers the solo traveler just that, as well as the opportunity to join others on a cultural immersion or spiritual experience.
GATE, for 26 years has shared the reality of the poor and marginalized in Latin America and Eastern Europe with more than 3,000 individuals. Currently, trips are being offered to Guatemala, El Salvador, Venezuela, Mexico and Eastern Europe. Through cultural immersion programs GATE offers face to face experiences that speak to the soul, build relationships based on understanding and changing lives.
It also offers the Women’s Spiritual Quest Program through pilgrimages exploring spirituality, as it relates to culture, history and art. Quests are currently offered to Central France and Mexico.
GATE implores individuals to further travel into global solidarity through philanthropy.
The philanthropic work focuses on the fulfillment of dreams. Lives are built on dreams. Donors, themselves dreamers, make building possible. Willa Cather eloquently captured this concept when she stated, "The history of every country begins in the heart of a man or a woman."
Legacies begin in our hearts. GATE Charitable Giving operates on the history and dreams of the organizations which benefit from the donations in Latin America. Knowing and understanding each of their foundations and the goals which drive their actions enables GATE staff to better represent their aspirations. GATE is committed to investing in meaningful relationships. This is done by providing a forum for people of different cultures to meet, speak, listen, learn and give. Are you ready to take the journey and make dreams happen?
GATE is a sponsored ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, of La Crosse, Wis. Go to www.gate-travel.org for more information on trips or call (608) 791-5283.
